The outdoor set-up is the strength. There is a dedicated dog and barbecue field, the local reservoir gives you a proper daily walk, and Penryn is close for shops with Falmouth and the south coast beaches a short drive on. Guests with dogs describe a well laid out, spacious conversion with a good outdoor area. One point to be clear about, though: the property asks that dogs are kept on a lead at all times, and guests disagree about how well the field actually contains a dog. One party found it a handy secure paddock for a run around; another reported that neither the field nor the house is dog secure, and that the doors, opened on their restrictor straps in warm weather, still let dogs through. Do not book this expecting reliable off-lead space.
The bigger caveat is condition and housekeeping, which is where the ratings come down. Two of the three dog-owning guests to report back described real problems: a property that was not ready on arrival with beds unmade and no linen, damp and mould in the back double bedroom bad enough that they moved into the single beds, mould spots on the blinds, perished door seals and rusted locks; and separately a kitchen missing basics such as salt, oil and foil, minimal crockery, a promised welcome tea that did not materialise and no visible wifi password. A third guest found it clean, spacious and had a faultless stay, so experiences clearly vary. Some on-site facilities, the hot tub included, cost extra on top of the booking.
