Chalet 64 sits at the lakeside edge of Glan Gwna Holiday Park just outside Caernarfon, tucked away from the busier part of the site and well placed for Snowdonia, Anglesey and the North Wales coast. It is openly let as a dog-friendly chalet rather than one that merely tolerates pets, which is the difference between arriving hopeful and arriving expected.

Dog owners notice the small things here. The chalet is stocked with practical extras - cleaning materials, kitchen roll, tea bags and doggy bags among them - and the private decking over the water turns out to be where dogs spend most of their time, watching the birds and the lake. Dogs are welcome across the whole park, and the on-site pool and quiet edge-of-site position make it an easy place to settle into for a week.

Two honest caveats. Guests travelling with dogs have reported damp in the chalet, with black mould behind the single beds and on a plug extension, so it is worth a look on arrival and worth raising with the park if you find it. And because the chalet is genuinely dog-friendly, guests arriving without a dog have noticed a faint doggy smell in the living area: a fair trade if you are the one bringing the dog, less so if you are not.

Formal pet terms are not published beyond dogs being welcome throughout the park - no stated fee, weight limit or number of dogs - so check with the park before booking if you are travelling with more than one dog or a large breed. Reception is not always staffed either, which has caught out guests wanting fishing permits or on-site help.
