Dog-owning guest feedback runs to a single stay so far, but it is specific: the annexe was stocked with a bed, a towel, bowls and biscuits for the dog on arrival, alongside fresh fruit, butter and milk for the humans. That is a level of preparation more common at properties that host dogs regularly than at ones that simply permit them.

The annexe itself comes across as clean and thoroughly equipped, which matters more in a small unit than a large one, because there is less room to work around a missing pan or a damp towel. Being annexe-format it suits one or two people plus a dog comfortably, and would feel tight with more.

Location is the other draw. Torrs Walk Avenue sits at the foot of the Torrs, the zig-zag cliff path known locally as the Seven Hills, so the South West Coast Path starts within a few minutes on foot. Heading east brings you down to Ilfracombe harbour, the Tunnels Beaches and the seafront cafes; heading west opens up Lee Bay and a long stretch of undeveloped coast. Neither direction needs the car.

One practical caveat: the allocated parking space is awkward to get into, and anyone arriving in a larger vehicle should raise it with the owners beforehand rather than discovering it on the day.

Best suited to a solo traveller or couple with one dog who want a small, well-prepared base with coast-path walking from the door, and who are happy in a compact space.
