Turnstone, Seaton

Turnstone is a comfortable one-bedroom apartment in Seaton on the east Devon coast, and its biggest selling point for dog owners is how close it sits to the sea. Guests travelling with dogs describe it as right by the beach, with a coffee shop next door and the town's shops and restaurants all within an easy stroll, so there is very little need to drive once you have arrived.

It is a genuinely dog-welcoming base, and it clearly works for more than one dog: recent guests have stayed happily with two and even three dogs. Several single out the host for excellent communication and helpful information before arrival, and at least one party noted they weren't charged extra for their dogs, though pet charges aren't published up front so it is worth confirming when you book. The apartment itself is clean, well equipped and cosy, and the location is handy for exploring further afield, with Lyme Regis around ten to fifteen minutes away by car and the Seaton Tramway and bus stops close by.

A couple of honest notes. This is a compact one-bedroom flat rather than a spacious house, so it suits a couple or a solo traveller with a dog or two more than a big group. One guest also felt Seaton itself was a little short on dog-friendly facilities compared with some resorts, so plan a few drives to nearby beaches and pubs if you want variety. As with any first-floor style apartment, quieter dogs settle best.

Turnstone suits dog owners who want a clean, well-placed bolthole steps from the Seaton seafront, with easy day trips along the Jurassic Coast. Confirm the pet charge and the maximum number of dogs with the host when you book.
