The location does the heavy lifting. The promenade, the pier and the Great Orme are all walkable, and there is enough open ground on the Orme to fill a morning, so a full day out is possible without moving the car once. That last point matters more than it sounds, because there is no on-site car park.

Parking is the first real caveat. The nearest car park is across the road and it fills up, and owners of older or less mobile dogs have judged the walk from the car, carrying bedding and bags as well, far enough to rule the hotel out. The carpets are the other recurring complaint, described as stained and past their best in several rooms. And because the hotel genuinely takes dogs, you may hear barking through the walls, which cuts both ways depending on whose dog it is.
