Station View Apartment occupies the top two floors of a Victorian townhouse conversion on Holgate Road, about twenty minutes' walk from York city centre, and it comes with an off-street parking space, which in York is worth real money. It accepts dogs, and families who have brought one have had good stays here. But the practical picture for dog owners is more mixed than the listing suggests, and it is worth going in with your eyes open.

Start with the access. The flat sits above another flat, and you reach it through a shared entrance, a series of locked doors and a narrow, steep staircase. Guests arriving with luggage and a dog have found that combination hard work. The stairwell light has been reported as broken, and the key and lock-box routine takes some getting used to.

The bigger issue is the resident dogs in the flat below. This is the single most repeated theme in guest feedback: dogs barking downstairs through the evening and into the night, with at least one report of them getting out into the shared corridor. You have to walk past their door to reach the apartment. If your own dog is reactive to other dogs, that is a flashpoint every time you go in or out, and if you are a light sleeper the barking joins train and traffic noise that guests describe as constant. The house sits where trains accelerate away from the station, and the road at the front is busy.

There is also very little green space immediately around the property, and that comes through clearly in feedback from guests with dogs: nowhere convenient for a dog to relieve itself without a proper walk first. Guests have also noted a lingering odour in the flat and inconsistent cleanliness.

At 3.9/5 on paws, this is a location-and-parking pick rather than a dog-comfort pick. It works for an easy-going, non-reactive dog whose owners want cheap parking and a walkable route into York, and who are happy to walk a few streets to green space for exercise. Nervous dogs, and light sleepers, should look elsewhere.
