Slate House is a three-star whole-house holiday let on Craig Walk in Bowness on Windermere, set on a quiet residential road within walking distance of the village. It is one of the bigger pet-friendly Craig Walk properties (a terrace also home to several smaller pet-friendly apartments) and is set up for a group of friends or a family travelling with a dog.
The one confirmed pet-traveller stay describes the property as very nice with the potential to be excellent with a few small refinements. The interior is described positively: a pool table, comfortable beds, spacious bedrooms, rainfall showers and heated towel rails, plus a coffee machine and tea bags on arrival. Streaming services are available on the TVs (guests bring their own logins). The location works for a quiet stay close to the Bowness village amenities.
The same review raised several practical caveats worth knowing as a pet-traveller. There is no outside tap for hosing a wet dog down before going inside, which matters after a fell day in the Lake District weather. The front doors had visible gaps that caused a noticeable draft when sitting on the sofa, with the cottage taking a full day to warm from 16°C to 19°C in the cooler months. Some self-catering basics (washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, hand towels in the bathroom) were missing on arrival.
