- You're basing yourself in Brixham / the South West and want a pet-friendly anchor for day trips
Worth knowing
- Paw rating sits on a single confirmed pet review - expect movement as more data arrives
- Pet fee and any size restrictions aren't published - confirm directly with the property before booking
How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 1 pet-mention guest review sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 14 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 8.0/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: July 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet-friendly summary
This quirky little apartment sits right in the centre of Brixham, and while it does accept dogs, it comes with one honest caveat that dog owners really need to know before booking: the stairs up to it are very steep. The guest who stayed with their dogs said as much, and to the owner's credit the same warning is spelled out in the welcome pack, so it is a known limitation rather than a nasty surprise.
What that means in practice is that this is not the right choice for every dog. Older dogs, larger dogs, puppies still finding their feet, or any dog with hip or joint issues will struggle with steep stairs, and carrying a heavy dog up and down them for every walk quickly gets tiring. For a light, agile, sure-footed dog on a short stay it can work, but it is worth being realistic about your own dog first.
Beyond the stairs, the apartment is small but adequate for a short break, the owner is praised for responding quickly, and the central Brixham location puts the harbour, the coast path and plenty of dog-friendly spots within an easy walk. One practical note from a guest: there was an additional SafeGuest deposit of around £35 to arrange after booking, so factor that in.
For a small, sure-footed dog and owners who do not mind the steep access, this compact Brixham base is a workable short-stay option and earns a 3.5/5 paw rating. If your dog is older, larger or less steady, look for a ground-floor or single-level property instead.
