It's a genuinely dog-friendly cottage with some thoughtful touches for dog owners - including an outside hot-and-cold shower that's a real help for rinsing off a sandy dog after a day at the beach - but there are a couple of significant caveats worth understanding before you book.
The first is access, which guests have flagged as a real challenge. The cottage isn't reachable by car: you stop briefly on a busy road to unload, then carry everything down twelve steps and along a steep, narrow pedestrian path to reach the door. With a dog, luggage and supplies to manage, that's a lot to coordinate on arrival and departure, and it won't suit anyone with limited mobility or a dog that's hard to handle on steps.
The second is specific to dogs: the closest beach, Porthminster, doesn't allow dogs between 10am and 6pm in season, so for daytime beach trips you'll need to head to one of St Ives's other dog-friendly beaches. It's worth planning your walks around that if beach time is the main event.
