Guests bringing dogs are warm about the house itself and consistent about one drawback, so it is worth being clear on both before booking.

The house works. It is clean, cosy and properly equipped, with comfortable beds, a good shower and clear arrival instructions, and the owner is responsive during the stay. The location is the other draw: quiet, green, with views over the valley, and walking straight from the door, with the route down through the churchyard and across the stream the one dog owners mention. Hebden Bridge is roughly ten minutes by car.

The garden is the problem, and it comes up in almost every review from a guest with a dog. It is steep, open and shared with the neighbouring property rather than enclosed, which makes it closer to a shared passage than a private yard. Dogs have struggled to get up it, owners have not felt able to leave a dog out unsupervised, and one party found the arrangement effectively unusable. If your dog needs safe off-lead space at the accommodation itself, this is not the right house.

Two further things to weigh. Parking is free but steep and narrow, and guests have found the space outside already taken. There has also been a complaint about arriving to carpets that smelled of cat litter and damp, with visible staining. Most reviews describe the house as clean, but it is worth checking on arrival.
