Glenesk Flat 2 is a ground-floor apartment on the Broadway in the middle of Woodhall Spa, with a private walled courtyard of its own. That courtyard does most of the work for dog owners: being able to open a door onto an enclosed space in the centre of a village is unusual enough that it is the feature reviews mention most. No pet charge has been published, so check the terms at the time of booking.

Inside, the flat is comfortably above the standard for a village let, with good fittings, a well-equipped kitchen and a large shower room. Dog owners mention treats left out on arrival and hosts who answer questions quickly. Off-street parking comes with the flat, which is not a given on a high street.

Everything in Woodhall Spa is a few minutes on foot, with shops, pubs and restaurants on the same street. The village sits on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds with the Viking Way long-distance path nearby, so there is proper walking within a short drive, and the golf course is close by if that is the reason for the trip at all.

Two caveats are worth being straight about. The first is cleanliness, specifically dog hair. Guests have found hair around the edges of the floors and on bedding, and on one stay badly enough that a member of the party slept elsewhere for the last night because of an allergy. Other guests over the same period described the flat as spotless with no trace of dog smell at all, so this reads as inconsistent changeovers rather than a permanent state, but if you are sensitive to it, raise it when you book. The second is sound. The flat is one of several in the building and noise carries, both from above and from neighbours, including barking.

It suits an owner who wants a village-centre base with a secure outdoor space and does not mind a building with other people in it. On balance it earns a 4.7/5 paw rating, high, but with the cleanliness caveat attached rather than glossed over.
