Fulshaw Mill Holidays, Stewarton

Fulshaw Mill Holidays is a small collection of hot-tub pods on a farm just outside Stewarton in East Ayrshire, and it is set up for the kind of short break where the dog comes as a matter of course. Each pod is private and self-contained with its own covered hot tub, there is a fire pit area, an outdoor television and a communal grassy space with covered seating and eating areas, and the site is around five minutes from Stewarton and roughly 25 minutes from Glasgow Airport.

What guests with dogs single out is how relaxed the owners are about them. Dogs are part of the picture rather than an exception, the grass gives them room to charge about, and the owners are visible on site and quick to help. Two practical points shape a stay with a dog. Pets are expected to be kept on the lead around the site, which most guests accept without complaint, but it does mean there is no enclosed decking or fenced patch outside each pod where a dog can be left off the lead. The other is walking: the road running up from the site is a private farm lane, unlit and busier than it looks, so it is not the place to tire a dog out. Bring a plan for proper walks elsewhere.
