Eastridge Glamping, Habberley

Eastridge Glamping is a small adults-only site of camping pods at Habberley, on the edge of the Shropshire Hills between Pontesbury and the Stiperstones. Dogs are welcome in the pods, and the setting is the whole point: forestry tracks and circular walks start from the gate, and guests walking dogs describe deer in the woods and hills in every direction.

The pods themselves are simple and clean. Guests travelling with a dog describe them as cosy and warm, with enough room for two people and a small dog, and the shared shower and toilet block gets consistently good marks for cleanliness. There is a communal fridge and freezer on site, which saves a trip out for supplies.

Two things are worth settling before you book. Bedding is not included as standard and is charged as an extra, and guests have also reported being chased for an additional charge for bringing a dog, which is not set out on the property's booking listing. Neither is unusual for a glamping site, but both are far easier to sort out at the time of booking than on arrival, so ask for the pet supplement and the bedding cost in writing.

The pub round the corner comes up in most reviews as the reason not to cook, though it is worth checking its opening days and whether it is serving food before you count on it, as guests have arrived to find it shut on a Monday or not doing meals.

Eastridge suits dog owners who want quiet, adults-only walking country and do not mind shared facilities and a degree of self-sufficiency. It earns a 4.2 out of 5 paw rating.
