Eastfield Glamping Farm

Eastfield Glamping Farm is a small collection of glamping pods on a working farm at Spennithorne, in lower Wensleydale a couple of miles from Leyburn, and the dog welcome here is a deliberate part of the offer rather than an afterthought. Dogs arriving at a pet-friendly pod find a bowl and a bag of treats already put out for them, and the countryside gives you walks straight from the door. It earns a 4.6/5 paw rating.

The pods themselves are why the property rates so highly with guests generally. They are spotless, warm and properly equipped - kitchen gear, toiletries, Bluetooth speakers, good lighting - with beds and bunks people comment on and small welcome touches on arrival. Several have hot tubs, and the outlook is straight over the dale. The owners are attentive and make people feel looked after.

The one thing to get right at booking is which pod you take. Only two of them accept dogs, Honeysuckle and Primrose, so a booking made without checking can leave you with nowhere for the dog to stay. Up to two dogs are allowed and the charge is fifteen pounds, though the property does not say whether that is per night or per stay, so it is worth settling in the same conversation.

Two caveats. The hot tubs are weather-dependent and have been out of use in high winds, which is nobody's fault but worth expecting. And a pod is a compact space - fine for a dog that settles quickly, tighter for a large or restless one. This is farmland too, so livestock and lead discipline come with the territory.

It suits couples and small families with a well-settled dog who want a comfortable countryside base for the Yorkshire Dales rather than a hotel with facilities.
