Byre View is a small chalet on a working farm on the Kintyre coast, between Tarbert and Campbeltown, and it is close to an ideal shape for a dog holiday: one property, no shared spaces, and an enclosed garden that opens straight off it. Guests travelling with dogs return to that garden again and again as the thing that makes the stay work, particularly those arriving with two dogs or a breed that would otherwise need a lead every time it goes out.
The farm setting is part of the appeal rather than a compromise. Sheep graze on the other side of the garden fence and lambing is visible in season, yet guests consistently describe the site as quiet and private. The host lives on the farm and is reachable by phone, which dog owners tend to find reassuring, and hot tub sessions can be arranged around a day out rather than at a fixed hour.
