What dog owners single out is that there are no off-limits areas: dogs are welcome throughout the building, the ground-floor bar and restaurant included, rather than being confined to the room or routed through a side entrance. A complimentary dog package is put in the room as well, so there is something waiting for the dog and not only for the guest. Staff pay attention to them too, and in a four-star city-centre hotel that combination is less common than it should be.
The hotel sits on Fountain Street in the middle of Manchester, so this is a pavement stay rather than a green one. Piccadilly Gardens and St Peter's Square are both a few minutes away, and the canal towpaths at Castlefield are within walking distance for a proper leg-stretch, but a dog used to fields will be doing city walking here. Parking is a few minutes away on foot rather than on site, which is worth planning for if you are arriving with a dog and luggage.
