Borranside is a whole-house self-catering cottage at Waterhead, on the southern edge of Ambleside and a few minutes from the head of Windermere. Taking the whole property rather than a room is the main appeal for anyone arriving with a dog: no shared corridors, no other guests to time your comings and goings around, and a rear garden behind a gate where the dog can be let out.
Guests travelling with dogs rate the setup well, and the one detail worth carrying into the booking is that the two gardens are not equal. The rear garden is properly enclosed and gated. The front garden has gaps in its boundary, which smaller and more determined dogs will find, and it opens towards the road, so it is a lead-on space rather than a place to let a dog run.
